December 31, 1969 Professor of Visual Arts Married 2
Thanks to Rick and everyone else on the Reunion Committee who have been working so hard to get everyone connected, and to celebrate 50 years!  We will indeed always love and cherish days together when our hearts were young!  But alas, I’m very sorry I’m unable to attend the 50th year celebration -  I’m actually still employed at the first place I went to upon graduation from BHS – namely Eckerd College (in St Petersburg), which back in 1968 was known as Florida Presbyterian College.  After graduating from FPC in ‘72 I spent a year in Italy, then went to Georgia State for grad school, finishing my MFA in 76, and I was fortunate / blessed to be invited to serve as a 1-year replacement at my alma mater for a faculty member who was going on sabbatical leave, and then the next year that person decided to retire, so one year teaching became two, and two became three, and so on, and this coming year will be my 43rd year teaching at Eckerd.  I should have retired already, but…  I simply haven’t yet, and I have far too much on the proverbial plate in advance of the rapidly approaching Fall term to be able to attend reunion festivities. Looking over the list of attendees I see a number of names that go way back to W.D. Thomson Elementary. Fond greetings to everyone!  I’m twice married, with two sons by my second spouse, both also alumni of Eckerd College (by choice) – the eldest is now a firefighter in Knoxville (and soon to be a paramedic), and the youngest is an artist/printmaker who hopes soon to be in graduate school.    Send Arthur a MessageSend Arthur a Message

I have been in Duluth for the past 25 years.  I owned a child care center in Norcross for 25 years.  I sold it a year ago and I am now starting over again.  I am sure this reunion will be one to remember. Send Audree a MessageSend Audree a Message

Forty sounds like such a big number! It's a good thing I was never any good at math.  Life has been good to me and I'm thrilled to share it -- a wonderful wife, two great kids, a terrific career and a family that's both close and near.  I owe a lot of my good fortune to a good educational environment, including Briarcliff.  I remember you all fondly.  If I'm not able to make the reunion, I'll be thinking of you.  All the best to everyone! January 29, 1950 Small Group Ministry
Reencountering high school is a challenge for me -- even as an idea. I have appreciated Mike Chase's comments & given the reassurance that it's not about me I will be there Friday.

I have lived in Atlanta, AnnArbor Michigan, SiouxCity Iowa, Berkeley California & have been back in Atlanta since 2003. I've been in & out of schools -- either teaching or as a student -- most recently the Unitarian Universalist seminary in Berkely.

I now do small group ministry in a variety of financially unstable forms -- very wonderful, very alive, very poor. I will be there Friday. For me, it will be about you -- I wonder what the wild 40 years since we graduated have grown you into.

I'm shier than I used to be. I wonder if I am really as different as reading thru all this makes it seem to me that I am. I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

I have been happily married to Kathryn (BHS 69) for 36 years with 3 children and 5 grandchildren.  I continue to work within a few miles of the high school at Wimberly, Lawson, Steckel, Schneider & Stine. I am living proof that one can learn anything.  If anybody remembers my total lack of rhythm, they would be astonished that I now am a competitive ballroom dancer. Send J. Larry a MessageSend J. Sandy (nee Hull; Lakeside 1969) and I have been married for 21 years and 80 days and we have one son Brian, 19.    After many years in academic research, I have recently left the Department of Pathology at Emory for a new position at the NIH.  I am temporarily orphaned in Bethesda, MD and during this relocation I have been a little out of touch.  Sandy will soon be leaving her position as a graphic designer at Fulton County, and is excited about her new life of retirement and eating Bon Bons in the Washington DC area.   This is an awesome website.  Congratulations and well done to the organizing committee.  Can’t imagine a better reunion and we’re so sorry we won’t be able to attend.  Really should consider getting a copy of the “News of All Sorts” section to George Lucas as an idea for a screenplay. Does anyone remember Mrs Newton’s Latin Class or Ms Davis’ Physics Class?

I've lived in Gainesville, GA for 22 years. I'm no longer married but have three great kids-two sons and a daughter. all in Georgia colleges. Nowadays I stay active volunteering with Hospice and the Humane Society and have rung handbells at church for 10 years. I travel as much as possible, mostly to New York in the past year. My years in the work force (after two seasons of professional dancing right after college) were in real estate and later as a travel agent. After I moved to Gainesville I stayed at home with my children. Now I substitute teach from time to time, mostly in the high school. This is a super website and I've really enjoyed reconnecting with classmates this way! Send Jan a MessageSend Jan a Message
